Guillaume Lachapelle lives and works in Montreal. He studied Visual arts at Quebec University in Montreal. His art consist mainly of sculptures, installations and miniatures. He showed is work at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin as part of a residency project. He also showed his work at the Laurentides Museum, Art Mûr gallery in Montreal, Maerzgalerie in Leipzig and Berlin and other exhibitions in Canada, France, Germany and the USA. He also produced public art works in Montreal.
Estheticism comes in cycles and constantly changes its criteria. To seduce, intrigue, or provoke are all different strategies to build relationships. The shocking art from one period will be the reference point of another, but the art will detach with difficulty in this way and may approach, finally, the true charm of its essence. In my work, seduction is a door opening into artworks which are presented to us, in fact, it is something of an obscure universe where this first sensation creates a place for a nervous ambiance, and creates space for reflection.
